Rep. Richardson Highlights Federal Natural Disaster Relief for Ohio Farmers
State Representative Tracy Richardson (R-Marysville) today announced that the USDA Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) application is now open. This program provides critical financial assistance to farmers impacted by natural disasters in 2023 and 2024. A total of $16 billion in federal funding is available.
"Natural Disasters are hard to overcome and I want our hard-working farmers to know that there is some federal relief available due to crop losses in 2023 and 2024,” said Richardson. “As the backbone of our rural communities, I'm hopeful that with knowledge about how to apply for assistance that eligible farmers in my District will get the help they need."
Eligible producers include those who suffered losses as result of natural disaster occurring in calendar years 2023 and or 2024. These disasters include the following:
- Wildfires
- Hurricanes
- Floods
- Derechos
- Excessive heat
- Tornadoes
- Winter storms
- Freeze (including a polar vortex)
- Smoke exposure
- Excessive moisture
- Qualifying drought, and related conditions.
To apply for SDRP, producers must submit the FSA-526, Supplemental Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) Stage One Application, in addition to having other forms on file with FSA.
